About
Michigan Authors and Illustrators (MIAI) is a database of information on authors and illustrators born in Michigan, who live in Michigan, or who have written books about or set in Michigan. Each entry includes biographical information, lists of works by the person and lists of works about the person. More complete information is available for those authors and illustrators who provide information to us. The database is a collaboration of the Michigan Association of School Librarians (MASL), the Library of Michigan (LM) and the Michigan Center for the Book (MCFB).
Authors and illustrators are eligible for inclusion in Michigan Authors and Illustrators if they are born in Michigan, live or have lived in Michigan or have works about or set in Michigan. To provide information about an author, please use the Submit Entry Link. Submission does not guarantee inclusion.

Michigan Association of School Librarians
The Michigan Association of School Librarians (MASL) is the professional organization for library media personnel in Michigan. The Michigan Authors and Illustrators database is the fourth work by MASL's members. Previous works include the first three editions of Michigan Authors (1960, 1980, and 1993) and Michigan Poets, 1964.
Michigan Center for the Book
The Michigan Center for the Book is a program of the Library of Michigan and its affiliates. It was formally chartered in 1986 as the Michigan affiliate of the National Center for the Book at the Library of Congress. The Michigan Center seeks to further in Michigan the National Center for the Book's goal of promoting books, reading, libraries and literacy.
Our goal is to promote an awareness of books, reading, literacy, authors and Michigan’s rich literary heritage. The Michigan Center for the Book draws from the Library of Michigan and its affiliate institutions to encourage and produce programs and resources throughout the state that promote books, reading, authors and libraries.
