What is the aim or goal of your writing: I have never thought of writing in terms of success. Writing is my gift, and I try to use it as well as I am able. I think as little as possible of writing as a career, and as much as possible of writing as my work. I try to create something worthy and lasting - art, if you will. I try to write as skillfully as I can, to tell the truth as I understand it, and to take joy in the process.
