What is the aim or goal of your writing: In the 2nd edition of Michigan Authors he is credited with "My writing draws its energy from the physical and spiritual environment of Michigan. I try to be aware that writing is more than a physical process, and is really the process of looking for and surprising yourself. To me writing is a conscious disordering of the senses, a fever, something you do because you have to."
