The Swarthouts followed the same path in the same year and settled northeast of Pinckney. 'Swarthout Road' there is named after them. My great grandfather, Ephraim B. Chubb, served in the 10th Michigan Calvary, company K, during the Civil War, seeing action in Kentucky and Tennessee."
