What is the aim or goal of your writing: After losing my job as an architect to the Great Recession in 2009, I needed a creative outlet. Given a long held interest int he history of great department stores, I began The Department Store Museum web site, in order to spread the knowledge and history of these institutions. I was offered an opportunity to write a book for The History Press, and I jumped at the chance. While I am an architect by profession, the practice of architecture requires the talents of a designer, illustrator, writer, and even sometimes psychologist. As a result, I was able to put my writing and organizational skills together to become a published author as well.
