What is the aim or goal of your writing:
I write simply because I need to. Writing is the thing that I love doing the most. I feel the most alive when I'm writing or even thinking about it. It's when I'm the most myself. And it's much like having a conversation (a really good one) between everything I am and everything (and everyone) that I've encountered. I like to think that a writer writes to capture the world in beautiful moments -- much like how a photographer takes pictures. All my writings are snapshots of what the world looks like to me at that time. Most of all, writing is one of my greatest teachers; it has taught me how to listen, how to live, how to laugh (mostly at myself), how to make mistakes (and which ones to keep), and how to not miss the little things that make life deliciously wonderful.
Success is such an arbitrary concept that it's difficult to speak to outright. However, I will say this. I attribute any success I have with writing to love and trust. I don't know where the ideas come from and I don't know why they come to me. I just trust the inspiration (and myself) enough to write them down. Unapologetically. Fearlessly. I just trust the process...instinctually, I suppose. And here's the scary part; I don't know what I'm writing, often times, until I've written it. You have to really love something to trust it that much. Writing (like all other acts of love) takes a great deal of trust and faith in the idea that we all have something inside of us that the outside world needs. Mine just comes out in words on paper.
May inquiries be sent to you about doing workshops, readings: Yes
I'd love to receive inquiries regarding workshops, readings, and presentations. The best part of the job (other than the writing itself) is sharing my work with as many readers as possible.
