What is the aim or goal of your writing:
2nd ed. says, "My grandfather, William Wilkins Cushman, from the state of Maine, was shipwrecked 'in a terrible tempest' on the Michigan shore while on his way to Wisconsin. Undaunted he borrowed shoes and an axe and went up to Muskegon from Big Rapids and for the remainder of his life engaged in lumbering, mainly in the Middle Branch area, but toward the end in the Upper Peninsula. My father was born in Middle Branch, my mother nearby, both graduated from Ferris Institute, had three children, I the youngest. Father followed the boom towns, a footloose entrepreneur of cheerful establishments (all within the law), and my early years were spent in the Copper Range, the Iron Range, various lumber towns, finally in Box Elder, Montana, where the Indian lands had been thrown open for settlement, and beyond. We even got back to Michigan, to Ann Arbor, where my father was associated with 'The Orient'."
