What is the aim or goal of your writing:
My writing 'apprenticeship' lasted about ten years, during which period I taught myself how to write and wrote six books which were never published. One, a nonfiction book for expectant mothers, did sell but was reneged upon by the publisher. Each time I was rejected I started another book, and eventually with my seventh book, I had a sale. (News which should be encouraging to all new writers). To this day, I'm not sure why I didn't give up. I finished each book and started another one the next morning--literally.. By the time I lost faith in Book#2, Book #3 was done, and so forth. Besides, I just loved writing so much, and it gave a wonderful structure to my life. And of course, each book almost made it. In fact, I was told that my quality novel 'caused a controversy' at the publishing house where I had sent it. I was too dumb to know that meant they had almost bought it."
