What is the aim or goal of your writing: 2nd ed. says, " Billl Oldenburg attempted to write with humor and honesty and to give the reader a refreshing awareness of the profound meaning of life. His Protestant Calvinistic background shows through strongly in his view of human conflict. Although writing of poetry, drama and fiction was his primary interest, he taught English on the college level and performed in live theater at Grand Valley State College, Grand Haven and Muskegon Civic Theaters and Hope College Summer Theater in Holland, Michigan. He served on the periodicals committee of "The Banner", the weekly publication of The Christian Reformed Church. He helped establish a Community Chapel in Grand Haven, Michigan, based on the relationship of evangelical Christainity to contemporary social issues and spoke weekly on the Grand Haven Radio Station, reproducing each chapel service. He followed American sports avidly, whether baseball, football or ice hockey, and enjoyed summer and winter fishing for relaxation. Two years before his death, he worked toward a new publication of Grand Haven, Michigan, history with a fellow historian, Ron Kuiper. They used primarily interviewing techniques to gain knowledge of the social history of Grand Haven from the year 1900 to the present."
