What is the aim or goal of your writing: Contemporary Authors says, "William J. Coughlin wrote both crime novels and more generalized fiction. As an attorney and judge in Detroit, Coughlin wrote a nonfiction account of his own experiences and observations in the legal field, and he eventually circulated the manuscript to a considerable array of publishers, including academic presses. None of the publishers was induced to accept this initial work, but a British company was sufficiently intrigued to inquire whether Coughlin had any fiction for submission."
