What is the aim or goal of your writing: I am genuinely interested in what I do. I love the things I write about (for the most part), and I consciously try to make my enthusiasm contagious. I think often of the line from the filmed version of Jean Anouilh's 'Becket', where the not-yet saint says to his king, "I love doing what I have to do - and doing it well". Most of all, I am conscious of the truth in Dryden's lines, "Happy the man, and happy he alone,/He who can call today his own;/He who, secure within, can say;/'Tomorrow do thy worst, for I have liv'd today.'" I try to be certain that I am living and doing all the time. My priorities may get a little mixed and I may find myself scrambling at the last minute to complete assignments and meet deadlines, but I stay conscious of the fact that this, too, is a kind of happiness.
