What is the aim or goal of your writing:
"Big hairy stories about big hairy men" is how one critic described his work. Writing in the school of realism, his novels and stories were works of romantic, frontier adventure aimed at young men. Plots involved ordinary hard-working citizens forced to confront the forces of nature and corruption.
Beach was the first American author to insert a clause about movie rights in his contracts, securing for himself a footnote in film history and a great deal of additional revenue. Fourteen of his novels and sixteen of his original scenarios were made into motion pictures. After making one fortune from novels and motion pictures, Beach went on to make another from flower and vegetable growing. He sold this farm to his employees and began raising cattle. Though he continued to write fiction, he also wrote about soil conservation and human and animal nutrition.
