What is the aim or goal of your writing: "To promote the enjoyment of reading among children and adults. Composition that is exciting, humorous, mysterious, adventuresome and quick-paced, not cumbersome or dull, is essential to spike the avid interest of readers in turning pages. My elementary and high school schooling in Grand Rapids, Michigan certainly was an excellent preparation for the life I have lived. My enjoyment of reading and writing started there." The author feels that lessons she received for participation on the debating team in quick reading to skim over paragraphs was a habit that is the best and most valuable for all would-be writers. 2nd ed. says, "I graduated in the same class as Gerald Ford from South High of Grand Rapids. He received a cup for the boy graduate who had achieved the most in four years, I received it for the girl. In our senior year, I ran on the same political election ticket as Jerry--he for president of the class--I for vice president. He was defeated, I was elected. We have remained in contact with each other over the years. For years, I wrote fact articles for newspaper and magazine publications; was a reporter; wrote and told nature stories for children two years for PBS Radio; and did a weekly newscast for a commercial station. However, fiction is my genre now. I believe that fiction should be an entertaining escape from the real world around us and lean toward romanitc all-ends-well-plotting. My 21 years in Michigan gave me a well-rounded education, happy memories, and a continued zest for life."
