What is the aim or goal of your writing: I write because I love the process of creating and crafting, being part of an artistic process, and telling stories. I write with the hope of connecting with readers, especially young readers. Books are an essential element in my life, and were especially transformative during my childhood – I cannot separate who I am from the books I’ve read and cherished. And I’ve seen books bring the same grace and wonder into my children’s lives. I attribute my success to perseverance, bolstered by the unflagging support and encouragement of my husband and children, and to the wonderful generosity of the children’s writing community, enabled by the internet. I have been writing all my life, but it was only after I joined SCBWI and began truly studying the craft that I achieved success in publishing.
