When all the world is old : poems - In poems raw and graceful, authentic and wise, Rybicki pays homage to the brave love he and his wife shared during her 16-year battle with cancer, and praises the caregivers nurses and doctors and friends who helped them throughout. |

What is the aim or goal of your writing:
I have no choice whether to write or not. It's as if God left his fingerprint branded across my forehead, as if He whispered, this is what you are called to do. In other words, I work my heart out as a wordsmith, and every now and then, after writing droves of mediocre sentences, starlight or God's own fires sparks through the pen.
In terms of teaching, I am part holy man, part instructor. I have this thunderous love for language, and when students witness this it sets fire to their lives. Teaching creative writing is the purest thing I do: to watch as a writer learns to walk on water, or burn holes in the page. It is a glory to be there to witness that grand awakening that takes place in young writers, to watch as they become possible through their instrument. To watch as they scrawl across the sky the kinds of sentences God might roll out of bed and read.
My work ethic: "I work like a monster, am singularly driven."
