What is the aim or goal of your writing: 2nd ed. says, "My birth as a writer has been slow and painful, yet it has been equally joyful in the discovery and realization that I have to offer something unique, as person, as black person, as women person; that I may be one of a small but wealthy tradition of black women writers. Writing for me has been a process of search and definition. That which I had searched to define has grown from some early overwhelming dilemmas to the probing of a world within. I am writing about myself now--and primarily for myself. If I am ever done with me, life may just lead me back out to write and worry about a larger world. Other than writing, my interests are famly, friends, all creative people, reading and the visual arts."
