What is the aim or goal of your writing: My parents were both great story tellers, and I loved anything that began "once upon a time." Not all of these stories were fairy tales; I liked hearing about real things that were in set in the past, too. This led me to study history and I became a teacher. In graduate school, I studied educational media, where I learned to tell stories visually. I also took courses in children's literature. The seed was planted, but it wasn't until I was producing a project that followed best practices for teaching literacy that I was really encouraged to write for children. The aim or goal of my writing is to tell a good story, whether it’s fiction or non-fiction. I’d like to make a connection with readers and leave them with something that makes them think or react. I try to find a slightly different perspective in any story and, often, that comes from digging deep into the facts. I love research and all the hidden treasures to be found there that can reveal the unexpected
