What is the aim or goal of your writing: I attribute my success to an inability to keep from writing poems: that is, I have had a rather dilatory and backward career, but I have kept writing. I would also attribute my success to my wife, who is very supportive, and can tell a good poem from a bad one. My work ethic involves writing poetry as a means of procrastinating: I have always found time to write poetry, even when other areas of my life have suffered.
