What is the aim or goal of your writing: I write mainly to “put on a show,” much like a bunch of kids would do to entertain their friends. To me, knowing that I could make someone laugh or simply keep someone happily turning the pages for a while is all I need to get motivated. As for my success, I think I have a strong sense of what young readers really want in a story rather than allowing myself to get bogged down with preconceived notions of what is good for them or what I ought to be trying to teach them in a heavy-handed way.
