What is the aim or goal of your writing:
I write because I have to. I always have. Success is subjective, and like most writers, I probably will never feel I have succeeded. But I do know that writing every day and trying to remain true to my heart throughout the process helps me complete my work.

| - I have been writing essays, poetry and short stories since I was a little girl growing up in the country outside of Detroit, Michigan, and at our summer home in Waloon Lake, Michigan. My first job after graduating with a degree in English/Creative Writing from Kalamazoo College was as a reporter at a small radio station in Petoskey, Michigan. I also wrote for several magazines, including Traverse Magazine. I went on to work as a reporter at an all-news station, KFWB, in Los Angeles for several years and then was hired by the ABC station in San Francisco, KGO Radio, where I worked as a reporter and anchor for thirteen years. I went on to become the afternoon anchor at WCBS Radio/CBS News in New York. In 2005, I quit my job to come home and help take care of my father who has Alzheimer's disease. I wrote about the experience every day and did research and interviews about Alzheimer's and care giving, which resulted in my book, Measure of the Heart. |
